The Ukrainian injured his left hand in the third round of the fight with Mbilli
Ukrainian super middleweight boxer Sergey Derevyanchenko (15-6, 10 KO) commented on his defeat in the fight with the Frenchman Christian Mbilli (28-0, 22 KOs).
“Why did I insist on continuing this fight? Yes, I didn’t want to lose, and I kept fighting. I only had one hand, and I had to move. Because when I stood still, he punched, made combinations.”
“Mbilly is a good, strong boxer. But if I had two hands today, he would be in a different situation.”
In the third round, Derevyanchenko suffered an injury to his left hand, which forced him to box for the rest of the fight with essentially only his right hand.
Derevyanchenko suffered his sixth defeat in the professional ring, while Mbilly still does not know the bitterness of defeat. For the Frenchman, this fight was the second in the last three months – in May, Christian defeated the British Mark Heffron by technical knockout in the first round.
In the fight with Sergey Derevyanchenko, Mbilly successfully defended his WBC Continental Americas title in the super middleweight division for the eighth time. The Ukrainian had previously said that he planned to fight in the professional arena for about two more years, and that his main goal remains winning the title.
