The name of the figure skater Butenko skated with during training has not been revealed. In February, he announced that he had broken up with Varvara Cheremnykh.
The couple trained under the guidance of Sergei Dobroskokov, then the skater joined the group of Eteri Tutberidze.
Butenko and Cheremnykh are the winners of the Russian Grand Prix stage of the 2022/23 season, the national championship among juniors. At the 2023 Russian Championship, the couple took 11th place.
