Athletistic / Athletics. World champion in athletics (indoors), Russian high jumper Danil Lysenko, said that heavy rains prevented him from showing a decent result at the Russian championship. Competitions are taking place in Yekaterinburg
Lysenko won the Russian championship with a score of 2.27 meters. If Danil could have jumped 2.33 m, he would have reached the Olympic standard, for which he would have been entitled to 1 million rubles.
“Today I was afraid of the wet surface because of the rain, because I had not jumped in such conditions for a very long time. Because of this, I was afraid of getting injured. But then I realized that there was nothing to worry about, so I took 2.27 on the first try and was ready to jump further at 2.30 and 2.33 – When it started raining again, I told the coach that I could take 2.33, but then the rain turned into rain, and I didn’t jump anymore,” Lysenko said in an interview with TASS.
At the age of 27, Danil Lysenko became the winner of the Winter World Championship (2018) and the silver medalist of the Summer World Championship (2017). He was not allowed to attend the Paris Olympics for non-sporting reasons (due to the holding of the SVO in Ukraine).
