Riznyk: I knew Fesyun before, Kirill is a good guy and a great goalkeeper. We will compete

Shakhtar goalkeeper talks about the new goalkeeper of the Miners and the start of the season

Shakhtar goalkeeper Dmitry Riznyk spent his second clean sheet this season UPL helped the Miners beat Left Bank away 1:0. After the match, Riznyk shared his opinion about the championship game and the start of the season.

— On the day of the match, your head coach Marino Pusic celebrated his birthday. Were there similar stories in your playing career?

— I don’t remember exactly, but probably one of my coaches was celebrating his birthday, which fell on the day we held an official meeting.

— How did the match with Left Bank go for your team?

— It was a tough match for us. It’s good that we scored early in the second half. We probably didn’t play very confidently, but we’re just getting into the season. We’re getting into optimal shape through games.

— In the first half, the Donetsk team created only one moment, when his partners brought Sikan into a scoring position in the 42nd minute of the match. This does not look like the usual game of Shakhtar Donetsk…

– Look, a week ago we lost to Polesie. I think it was bad luck for our team, and of course that defeat affected our performance. That defeat shook our confidence. Of course, in the match with Left Bank we only needed to win.

— You had just a little?

— More organizational work, there was a lot of prompting. I played to zero and we won – that’s the main thing.

— In the summer, Shakhtar bought a new goalkeeper, Kirill Fesyun. Were you acquainted before?

– Yes. Kirill is a good guy and a great goalkeeper. We will compete.

– Last year you competed with Rudko, and now with Fesyun. Has anything changed for you?

– No. Competition is always necessary.

— According to the calendar, Shakhtar has two away matches ahead – against Oleksandriya and Kryvbas. Are you expecting any difficult matches?

– Of course. All matches are difficult for us now. We will play to win.

— The Champions League group stage draw will take place at the end of August. Are there any clubs in Europe that you would like to play?

— We played with Barcelona last season. I would like to play with Real Madrid and Manchester City.

— Isn’t it interesting to play against Viktor Tsygankov’s Girona?

— Why, that’s also interesting. Every team that made it to the group stage deserves attention. The Champions League tournament itself is the most interesting tournament. I know that the format will change a little and there will be 8 matches in the group.
