Athletistic/Weightlifting. Russian weightlifter Khas-Magomed Balaev has been disqualified for two years for an anti-doping rule violation. A metabolite of methandienone was found in his sample, as reported by the official website of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA).

“The RUSADA Preliminary Review Commission for Anti-Doping Rule Violations has decided to disqualify the athlete Khas-Magomed Balaev (weightlifting) for two years for a violation provided for in paragraphs 4.1 and 4.2 of the All-Russian Anti-Doping Rules, effective July 29, 2024, taking into account the temporary period already served of ineligibility as of January 16, 2023,” the agency said in a statement.

Balaev, who won gold at the 2022 Russian Championships, will be suspended from competition until January 15, 2025.
