Panathinaikos close to signing Manchester United and Uruguay winger Pellistri

The Uruguayan spent the second half of last season on loan at Granada

Panathinaikos close to winger transfer Manchester United Facundo Pellistri.

It is reported that a deal between the clubs could be concluded as early as this week.

The team’s head coach Diego Alonso, who previously worked with Facundo in the Uruguayan national team, really wants to see Pellistri in Panathinaikos. In particular, Alonso took Pellistri to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where he played all three matches of the group stage.

Pellistri spent the first part of last season with Manchester United, playing 7 matches in the Premier League. Facundo spent the second part of the season on loan at Granada, where he played 15 matches in La Liga (scoring two goals and making one assist).

In the summer off-season, Pellistri returned to Manchester United, and even took part in the FA Community Shield match against Manchester City, which Erik ten Hag’s team lost in a penalty shootout.

Panathinaikos have been eliminated from the Europa League qualification and will now face Lens in the Conference League qualification play-off round. Diego Alonso’s team started the Greek championship with a home defeat to Asteras (0:1).
