Russian artistic gymnastics champion Marinov says he will undergo shoulder surgery and miss up to six months

Russian Artistic Gymnastics Champion Daniel Marinov said he would undergo shoulder surgery, the recovery period after which could be six months.

At the FONBET Russian Artistic Gymnastics Cup, which took place in late July – early August in Novosibirsk, 19-year-old Marinov won in the individual all-around, floor exercises and parallel bars, and took third place in vault.

— The MRI results showed that shoulder surgery is still necessary. I never thought that one day I would have to “go under the knife” when I find out otherwise, I don’t get upset and accept it. So it’s just necessary. And in fact, I would like to quickly eliminate this problem that has been going on since the beginning of this year, so that it doesn’t bother me in the future.

The preliminary dates for the surgery are mid-September, with a recovery period of 4-6 months. Fortunately, no serious start is planned in the near future requiring my participation. So, it is, more or less, a favorable time for such a thing. I am sure that everything will be fine, we will break through! We just need to be a little patient,” Marinov wrote on his Telegram channel.
