Before reaching the main draw, the Ukrainian needs to overcome two more qualification stages.
Ukrainian tennis player Daria Snigur beat the “neutral” Valery Savinykh in the quarterfinals of the qualification US Open 2024.
The match lasted 1 hour and 25 minutes. The opening set began with both players taking games on their serve, but closer to the middle of the set, Daria took the initiative on the court. She was able to make three breaks in a row and eventually won with a score of 6:4.
Snigur started the second set with a lost game on her own serve, but immediately corrected it and made a break. Both opponents made enough mistakes, but Daria was still able to win, and she took the decisive game on her opponent’s serve under “zero”.
Snigur will face Australian Priscilla Hon in the 2024 US Open qualifying semifinals on Wednesday, August 21.
Today, another Ukrainian will play her US Open 2024 qualification match: Yulia Starodubtseva will play against Andorra’s Victoria Jimenez-Kasintseva. The start is no earlier than 23:10 Kyiv time. Tomorrow, August 20, other Ukrainians will also start in the qualification: Katarina Zavatska will face Japanese Ena Shibahara, and Anastasia Soboleva will meet Sweden’s Mirjam Bjorklund.
