Athletistic/ Figure skating. Honored coach of the USSR Tatyana Tarasova commented on social networks on Kamila Valieva’s decision to remove the mention of the gold medal at the 2022 European Championships.
“I can’t tell if Valieva did the right thing by removing the mention of the European Championship gold. She resigned herself. What else should she do? We consider her a champion, but there are rules,” Tarasova told Sport24.
Prior to that, Valieva had been disqualified for an anti-doping rule violation. Her results from December 25, 2021, were voided.
Valieva will be able to return to the ice no earlier than December 25, 2025.
Russian figure skaters have been suspended from international competitions since late February 2022.
