Athletistic / Mountaineering. The press service of the Russian Mountaineering Federation said that a group of rescuers met Russian climbers Sergei and Mikhail Mironov, who fell victim to a collapse on Mount Gasherbrum IV in Pakistan.

“The rescue group and the victims met. They began their descent to a plateau at an altitude of 6,100 meters, where a helicopter can land,” the press service of the Russian Mountaineering Federation said in a statement.

In early August, Russian climbers Sergei Nilov, Mikhail and Sergei Mironov, as well as Alexei Bautin and Evgeniy Yablokov went to Gasherbrum IV. Their main goal was to search for and repatriate the body of Dmitry Golovchenko, who died on this peak in 2023. On August 17, their group, located at an altitude of 6,200-6,400 meters above sea level, was caught in a landslide: Mikhail and Sergei Mironov were injured more or less seriously, and communication with Nilov was completely lost.

The search operation to rescue the Russians began on Saturday, August 17. The Pakistani army evacuated Bautin and Yablokov by helicopter. Already on August 18, rescuers attempted a ground rescue operation, but due to bad weather they were unable to reach the place where the Mironov brothers were.
