Athletistic / Paralympic Games. Russian Paralympic Committee (RPC) President Pavel Rozhkov has said he will not be able to attend the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris. Instead, Paralympic football champion Ivan Potekhin will lead the Russian delegation.

“Of course, it is sad that I cannot go to the Paralympic Games in Paris, but Ivan Potekhin, the champion of the Paralympic Games, three-time world champion in football, participant of three Paralympic Games, will go to the Games in my place. He is now the deputy head of the RKR personnel, he brilliantly graduated from the Russian International Olympic University.

“Of course, I am worried. I have probably already given too many recommendations to the team, but experienced personnel are going to Paris, who since 2004 have been organizing with me the work of our teams, training, medical control, etc. In other words, people who have been working in the RCC, in the federations and directly in the national teams for many years are going to France,” Rozhkov said, quoted by Match TV.

The Paralympic Games will be held in the French capital from August 28 to September 8. All Russian athletes are allowed to participate in the 2024 Paralympic Games in individual neutral status. Russians will not be allowed to participate in the opening and closing ceremonies of PI-2024, and their medals will not be included in the overall standings.

Earlier, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) announced that 90 Russian athletes had received accreditation to participate in the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris.
