Athletistic/OI-2024. Former Polish president Alexander Kwasniewski has said that current Polish leader Andrzej Duda is considering running for the post of IOC president after he finishes his presidential term in 2025.

In an interview with onet.pl, Kwasniewski noted that Duda’s chances of getting such an appointment are extremely low, since the post of IOC president is usually held by people directly connected with sports and the Olympic Games.

“In theory, if a politician was the organizer of the Olympic Games or made a significant contribution to their holding… But, as we know, there were no Olympic Games in Poland,” Kwasniewski stressed.

The IOC is currently headed by Thomas Bach and new elections for the organization’s president will take place in March 2025 in Greece.
