Former figure skater Kawaguchi says she won the Russian facial massage championship

Double European Champion Figure Skater Yuko Kawaguchi who competed for Russia with Alexander Smirnov, told that over the past four years she has specialized in facial massage and even won the national championship in this category.

Kawaguchi and Smirnov are two-time European champions (2010, 2015), two-time silver (2009, 2011), bronze (2008) at the European Championships, two-time bronze medalists at the World Championships (2009, 2010). They retired in 2017.

— A few years ago you started doing facial massages. How did it go?

— I was inspired by the wonderful massage therapist I go to. When quarantine began in the spring of 2020, it became impossible to play sports, but no one gives up on beauty. I wanted to help athletes in a different way, because massage is an integral part of life in big sports. We all had frequent massages, including facials. It helped me a lot, because it is interconnected – through nerve endings, the general energy of the body. I respect my massage therapist and her approach, the way she helps athletes.

I finished my training and started working in a salon. I liked it and I still conduct sessions to this day. She has already acquired regular clients and last year she won the Russian facial massage championship,” Kawaguchi told .
