Applications have been announced male And Women’s national teams of Ukraine on Summer Biathlon World Championshipswhich will take place in Otepää, Estonia.
The general application included 27 athletes, including men’s and women’s junior teams. Irina Petrenko, who recently suffered a broken leg, will not be able to help her team at the tournament. She will be replaced in the national team by another athlete, whose name will be announced soon.
The composition of the Ukrainian national team for the 2024 Summer Biathlon World Championships:
- Men: Anton Dudchenko, Stepan Kinash, Taras Lesyuk, Denis Nasyko, Dmitry Pidruchny, Artem Tishchenko, Ruslan Tkalenko, Bogdan Tsymbal
- Women: Nadezhda Belkina, Yulia Dzhima, Kristina Dmitrenko, Lyubov Kipyachenkova, Anna Krivonos, Anastasia Merkushina, Daria Chalik
- Juniors: Bogdan Borkovsky, Stepan Kinash, Egor Makarenko, Vitaly Mandzyn, Sergey Suprun, Mikhail Khmil
- Juniors: Elena Gorodnaya, Alexandra Merkushina, Ksenia Prikhodko, Polina Putsko, Victoria Khvostenko, Alina Khmil
The 2024 Summer Biathlon World Championships will be held in Otepää, Estonia, from August 22 to 25. The competition will begin with super sprints among juniors and elite, followed by sprints. On the final day of the World Championships, juniors will compete in pursuit races, while elites will compete in mass starts.
Let us recall that in 2023, the Summer World Championships were held in Brezno-Osrblie, Slovakia. The tournament was generally successful for Ukraine. Oleksandra Merkushina and Olena Gorodnaya both climbed the podium in the women’s junior super sprint. In a similar race among men, Serhiy Suprun brought Ukraine silver, and Artem Tyshchenko won bronze in the super sprint among adults. Taras Lesyuk won gold in the men’s mass start.
In addition, in the junior sprint, Ukrainian representatives occupied the entire podium. Mandzyn and Borkovsky took silver and bronze in the pursuit race among juniors.
