Zinchenko: I keep in mind that maybe one day I can become a coach

The Ukrainian believes that his team should be compact on the football field

London Arsenal defender Alexander Zinchenko spoke about whether he will become a coach after finishing his playing career.

“I hope I’ll have a lot more time as a footballer, but yes, I have in mind that maybe one day I could become a coach. I really want to stay in football, but I don’t know how yet, to be honest.”

“I’ve learned from every manager I’ve worked with in my career. They’re all different and have their own idiosyncrasies, but they’re all demanding. So demanding that they’re obsessed with winning games.”

“At the moment, I would say that the best manager in the team in the future will be Jorginho. He has the best football brain. Everything he says really works, and I learn from him too.”

“Definitely, right now I would like my team to be on the ball and dominate. It doesn’t mean running less – it means enjoying football and being very aggressive without the ball. You need to be a very compact team, and many other things – too many to list.”

The Ukrainian’s current contract with Arsenal runs until 2026. It was previously reported that the Gunners were ready to sell Alexander this summer.

The 27-year-old Ukrainian made 35 appearances for Arsenal last season, scoring one goal and providing two assists. Zinchenko missed a number of games due to injuries, after which he lost his place in the Gunners’ starting lineup.

In July, Zinchenko changed his agent. The Ukrainian signed a contract with Unique Football Agency. At the same time, the defender went on a tour of the USA with Arsenal, and Oleksandr started the opening match of the EPL season with Wolverhampton from the first minutes (2:0).

Arsenal’s next match is away against Aston Villa on August 24.
