Two-time Olympic biathlon champion Dmitry Vasiliev has spoken about Polish President Andrzej Duda’s plans to run for the post of head of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). At the same time, current IOC President Thomas Bach announced that he would not be re-elected for a new term.

“Insatiable for power, that’s how I would call his desire. He can no longer run for the presidency of Poland, and he is used to power – it is very difficult to give it up. So I thought about what important post would be up for grabs in the very near future, so to speak, and this is just the IOC president. A person who has nothing to do with sports suddenly decided that he could offer himself for such a responsible post, which is quite specific. I am not at all embarrassed by the fact that today WADA is also headed by a Pole (Witold) Banka. How to perceive this, I think it is impossible for two Poles to occupy two such serious posts,” Vasilyev quotes RIA Novosti as saying.
