Athletistic / Rhythmic gymnastics. The President of the All-Russian Federation of Rhythmic Gymnastics (VFKhG) Irina Viner congratulated the Russians on the National Flag Day. Flag Day is celebrated in Russia on August 22; this holiday was established in 1994.
“On August 22, we celebrate the Day of the National Flag of the Russian Federation, one of the most important holidays of our country. This symbol of unity, independence and sovereignty of Russia personifies our national pride, historical continuity and desire for development.
Our tricolour flag plays a vital role in international competitions. When Russian athletes step onto the mat and the stands are filled with a sea of Russian flags, it gives gymnasts special energy, confidence and unwavering determination to win. Seeing the Russian flag proudly flying during the awards ceremony when our anthem is played is an unforgettable emotion that inspires Russian gymnasts to new sporting achievements and brilliant victories.
“May the national flag of the Russian Federation always inspire us to new achievements and embody the power and greatness of our Motherland!” Wiener wrote on his telegram channel.
Four students of Irina Viner became Olympic champions. She is a Hero of Labor of the Russian Federation, Honored Worker of Physical Culture of the Russian Federation (1997), and also a full holder of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland.
