Petrov and Dmitriev finished with a time of 3 minutes 43.703 seconds. The final of the competition will take place on Saturday.
Russian canoeist Marina Gureeva failed to qualify for the final in the 1000 metres, finishing sixth in the semi-finals.
The World Kayak and Canoe Championships are taking place in Samarkand and will end on August 25. The Russians were admitted to this tournament with a neutral status.
At the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, Petrov posted his fourth result in the canoe singles 1000m competition, and was also one step away from a medal with Alexey Korovashkov in the canoe doubles 500m final.
