Pidruchnyi: It’s really cool when the anthem is played in your honor, especially on the eve of Independence Day. It motivates you to move forward

Dmitry is happy for himself and his compatriot Tishchenko, with whom he took the first two places in the super sprint at the summer World Championships

Ukrainian biathlete Dmitry Pidruchny shared his emotions about his victory in super sprint on 2024 Summer World Cup in Otepää, Estonia.

“It was a bit difficult before the final, because it was the second race in one day, it’s always harder for me. It was more difficult in terms of the course, and I tried to distribute my strength evenly, because in the final you are no longer working for the time, but for the result. I concentrated on shooting and approaching the firing line.”

“I saw that I came out first after the last shooting, because there were misses on the first three installations, and the rivals would not have had time to go through the penalty laps so quickly, I also saw Artem Tishchenko and the Czech, who were coming out behind me. That’s why from the first meters I switched on the maximum gear to make a reserve before the finish line. I was very happy that Artem was second and fought for silver. It’s very nice when your teammate finishes with you on the podium.”

“The award ceremony? It’s very nice, especially on such a day, and also on the eve of Independence Day, which we are now defending. It’s very cool when the anthem is played in your honor, and you and your teammate are standing in the two highest places. It really motivates you to move on. To continue to please our soldiers, our fans and the country and to continue to fight.”

Let us recall that today the leader of the Ukrainian men’s team won the first gold medal for our country at the 2024 Summer Biathlon World Championships. Dmitry’s compatriot, Artem Tyshchenko, came in second. Another Ukrainian, Anton Dudchenko, took 13th place.

Tomorrow, August 24, four sprint races will be held as part of the 2024 Summer World Championships. The tournament will end on Sunday with junior pursuit races and elite mass starts.
