Alexander Kosenko’s team scored seven unanswered goals against the Cubans
Ukraine National Futsal Team defeated Cuba (7:0) at the tournament in Portugal.
Kosenko’s team opened the scoring in the 7th minute – Mykytyuk scored. Six minutes later Shved doubled Ukraine’s advantage, and overall the game was one-way with the blue-yellows clearly in the lead.
In the period from the 26th to the 29th minute, Zvarych scored a double. Then Semenchenko and Korsun scored a goal each for Ukraine, and Morejon scored an own goal for Cuba.
In a parallel match, Portugal thrashed Costa Rica 6:1. Recall that in the opening round, Ukraine thrashed Costa Rica 4:0, while Portugal left Cuba no chance (9:0).
On August 25, Ukraine will play its final match against Portugal, which will determine the winner of the tournament.
Let us recall that the Ukrainian team continues to prepare for the 2024 World Cup in Uzbekistan. On August 28, after the end of the tournament in Portugal, Oleksandr Kosenko’s team will play against Bosnia and Herzegovina, and on August 30 they will face Libya.
The 2024 World Cup will be held in Uzbekistan. Kosenko’s team will play in Group C and will begin their performance at the tournament on September 15 with a match against the favorite of the quartet, the Argentina team. Three days later, the blue-yellows will play Angola. The Ukrainian team will complete the group stage with a match against Afghanistan on September 21.
Let us recall that the Ukrainian team made it to the World Cup by beating Poland (5:3) in the decisive match of the elite round of qualification. In addition to the blue-yellows, Kazakhstan, France, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands and Croatia also received tickets to the world forum from Europe.
