Former Shakhtar winger Solomon close to loan move from Tottenham to Leeds

The Israeli missed almost all of last season due to a meniscus injury.

Winger Tottenham Manor Solomon close to rent in Leeds.

The Israeli is reported to have a medical today, August 24, after which the deal will be officially announced. Solomon was also wanted by Getafe, but the player turned down a move to La Liga as his priority was to stay in England.

From 2019 to 2022, Solomon played for Shakhtar, and spent the 2022/23 season on loan at Fulham.

In the summer of 2023, Solomon moved to Tottenham on a free transfer, signing a contract until 2028. The player’s contract with the Ukrainian club expired on December 31, 2023. FIFA granted permission for early termination of the contract due to the war in Ukraine.

The clubs tried to reach an agreement regarding the situation with Solomon back during the period of organizing a charity match in support of the people of Ukraine, which took place in London on August 6 last year. Later, information appeared that the Donetsk club had appealed to the European Court of Human Rights regarding compensation for the transfers of two legionnaires – Solomon to Tottenham and Tete to Galatasaray.

In October 2023, CEO Sergei Palkin confirmed the negotiations and said he expected an offer from the London side that would suit all parties. In November, Turkish media reported that Spurs and Shakhtar had allegedly reached an agreement on the situation with Solomon with the direct participation of FIFA.

Manor Solomon made six appearances for Tottenham in the 2023/24 season, providing two assists, before suffering a meniscus injury and missing the rest of the club’s league campaign.

Leeds have four points from their opening two Championship games and will next play at home against Hull City on August 31.
