Hearn: Stevenson vs. Davis Will Be Greatest Rivalry in Boxing History

Shakur Stevenson’s promoter believes his protégé’s fight against Davis will take six months to promote

Promoter Shakur Stevenson Eddie Hearn commented on the choice of his protégé’s closest rivals.

“Right now, what we’re going for is Joe Cordina, William Zepeda and Gervonta Davis. Once we do our job, Shakur Stevenson versus Gervonta Davis will be the greatest fight in boxing history. I need six months to promote that fight.”

“But we make our own moves. We’re not chasing the Tank, we’re chasing greatness. But the quickest way to get there is to fight Davis. Because he’s a great fighter.”

Stevenson, in his last fight, defeated Artem Arutyunyan in the main event of a boxing evening in New Jersey. The fight lasted all 12 rounds, in the end Shakur won by decision.

The WBC has already sanctioned Shakur’s fight with William Zepeda, which is scheduled to take place on October 12.

On the night of June 16, Gervonta Davis defended his championship title by knocking out his compatriot Frank Martin. The 29-year-old boxer remains undefeated, with 28 of his 30 victories coming ahead of schedule.

Representatives of “Tank” have been negotiating for a long time about a fight with IBF and IBO lightweight world champion Vasyl Lomachenko. The event was planned to be held in November 2024 in Las Vegas, USA at the “MGM Grand” or “T-Mobile Arena”, but the Ukrainian decided to take a break from his career.
