Norwegian double Olympic champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen set a world record in the 3000 metres at the Diamond League stage in Silesia (Poland).
Ingebrigtsen, 23, ran the 3,000 meters in 7 minutes 17.55 seconds to win the race.
The previous record over this distance belonged to Kenyan Daniel Komen (7:20.67) and had existed since 1996.
Ingebrigtsen is the 2020 Olympic champion in the 1500 meters, the Paris Games champion in the 5000 meters, the 2022 and 2023 world champion in the 5000 meters, 6 times European outdoor champion and 5 times European indoor champion.
