On August 29, the blue-yellows will start the Olympic qualification with a match against France
Ukrainian National Hockey Team beat in a friendly match Hungary (6:3). This game closed the ten-day training camp in Budapest for Dmitry Khristich’s team, after which it will go to Riga for the Olympic qualification matches.
The first period of the match with Hungary ended in a goalless draw, but the second 20 minutes turned out to be a strike for Ukraine. In it, they threw pucks into the opponent’s goal three times – Sadovykov, Cherdak and Peresunko scored.
The final period turned into a real goal shootout – the opponents scored three goals each (Boroday and Deniskin scored for the yellow-blue team, and Sadovikov scored twice), but the final triumph of Khristich’s team was still there.
Let us recall that Ukraine defeated South Korea (4:0) in the preliminary round of Olympic qualification, beat the Polish team (3:2) in a shootout, and triumphed over Estonia (5:3).
In the final round of the Olympic qualification, Dmitry Khristich’s team will play France, Slovenia and Latvia. The matches will be held in Riga from August 29 to September 1. The winner of the quartet will receive a ticket to the 2026 Olympic Games. Ukraine’s first opponent will be France – this match will take place on Thursday, August 29.
