Alexander Kosenko’s charges dealt with the current world and European champions
Ukraine National Futsal Team played the final match of the friendly international tournament – the team Alexandra Kosenko beat its hosts, the team Portugal with a score of 6:3.
The scoring was opened in the 7th minute by Andriy Melnyk, who carried the ball forward and easily beat the Portuguese goalkeeper. Ukraine doubled its advantage thanks to the efforts of captain Petro Shoturma, who was playing his 100th match for the national team today – he shot from the out, and the ball ricocheted off the goalkeeper and flew into the net, so it was recorded as his own goal.
Shoturma scored a double in the 16th minute. During the first half, goalkeeper Oleksandr Sukhov became the hero of the Ukrainian national team, managing to save two double penalties.
After the break, Igor Chernyavsky, Nazar Shved and Nikolai Mykityuk distinguished themselves for Ukraine, and they secured a more than confident victory over the current world and European champions.
Let us recall that earlier at the tournament in Portugal, Ukraine successively beat Costa Rica (4:0) and Cuba (7:0).
On August 28, after the end of the tournament in Portugal, Alexander Kosenko’s team will play against Bosnia and Herzegovina, and on August 30 they will face Libya.
The 2024 World Cup will be held in Uzbekistan. Kosenko’s team will play in Group C and will begin their performance at the tournament on September 15 with a match against the favorite of the quartet, the Argentina team. Three days later, the blue-yellows will play Angola. The Ukrainian team will complete the group stage with a match against Afghanistan on September 21.
Let us recall that the Ukrainian team made it to the World Cup by beating Poland (5:3) in the decisive match of the elite round of qualification. In addition to the blue-yellows, Kazakhstan, France, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands and Croatia also received tickets to the world forum from Europe.
