The Norwegian beat Kenya’s Daniel Komen by almost three seconds
Norwegian track and field athlete Jacob Ingebrigtsen at the stage Diamond League in Silesia he broke the world record 3000 meter runheld on with 1996 years.
The 23-year-old Norwegian covered the distance in 7:17.55 minutes, beating the previous record of Kenyan Daniel Komen (7:20.67), which was set back in 1996, by almost 3 seconds.
The other two places on today’s podium were taken by two Ethiopians, Berihu Oregavi and Yomif Kejelcha.
At the recently concluded 2024 Olympic Games, Ingebrigtsen won gold in the 5000m, but in the 1500m he sensationally failed to make it into the top three, finishing fourth in the final.
Another world record was set today at the Diamond League stage in Silesia: Swedish athlete Armand Duplantis cleared a height of 6.26 m in the pole vault.
Ukraine won two medals at today’s competition in Silesia: Mykhailo Kokhan won silver in the hammer throw, and Oleg Doroshchuk took bronze in the high jump.
