President of the Moscow Diving Sports Federation Gleb Galperin said that by the end of 2023 the situation with facilities for divers should improve, it is planned to complete the construction of the pool in the south of Moscow by 2024.
Major diving competitions returned to Moscow at the Kremlin Cup last week. Until that time, the last such start was the World Series stage in 2015 – then the World Series moved to Kazan, and the Olimpiysky sports complex was closed for reconstruction.
— By 2023 and 2024, we will have more facilities. By 2024, it is planned to build a swimming pool in the south of Moscow – in the Zamoskvorechye region. Everything has already been signed and construction is about to begin. It should be an object that meets all modern requirements. In addition, this pool (MGFSO) is planned to be rebuilt for jumpers.
Galperin noted that most Moscow athletes now train in the Olympic Village pool.
– We are waiting for the reconstruction of the Olimpiysky to be completed … First, the RSUPC was closed for reconstruction, which turned out to be longer, and then this completely unexpected story with CSKA. It was difficult to influence all of that,” he said.
