Ukrainian clears 2.29m
Ukrainian track and field athlete Oleg Doroshchuk won bronze in the high jump in his debut event Diamond League V Silesia.
Doroshchuk cleared the bar at a height of 2.29 m on his second attempt. Jamaican Romaine Beckford cleared the same height of 2.29 m, but on his first attempt, which allowed him to receive a silver medal. Gold went to Italian Gianmarco Tamberi, whose result was 2.31 m.
It is curious that the 2024 Paris Olympic champion, New Zealander Hamish Kerr, dropped out at a height of only 2.22 m, failing to clear it in any of his three attempts. Oleg Doroshchuk took sixth place in the high jump at the aforementioned 2024 Olympics.
At the Diamond League stage in Polish Silesia, Oleg Doroshchuk’s bronze became the second medal for Ukraine – earlier, Mikhail Kokhan won silver in the hammer throw.
