Dramatic first round match of US Open 2024 lasted more than three hours
Ukrainian tennis player Dayana Yastremskaya lost to a representative of Germany in three sets Jule Niemeyer and left US Open 2024.
The match lasted 3 hours and 10 minutes. The first set was an equal, competitive struggle – both opponents held their serve well, and the fate of the set was determined by only one break made by Niemeier.
The second set was also a battle, and a tie-break had to be used to determine the winner. Yastremska was slightly stronger, making four mini-breaks against two for Niemeyer.
In the decisive third set, with the score 5:4 in her favor, Niemeyer was able to take Yastremska’s serve, converting her first match point.
In the second round, Julia Niemeyer will face the winner of the pair Tamara Korpatsch (Germany) – Moyuka Uchijima (Japan).
