Athletistic/Figure skating. Figure skater Varvara Gorobchenko took part in the Minsk tournament despite being temporarily suspended by the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) for suspected anti-doping rule violations, TASS reports, citing a source.

“Gorobchenko took part in the international competition of the Friendship Cup in Minsk in December, representing Plushenko’s Angels Academy, and took ninth place. The Russian Figure Skating Federation did not facilitate her participation and disqualified the athlete immediately after receiving the decision of the RUSADA Anti-Doping Disciplinary Committee. At that time, she had already been temporarily suspended by RUSADA,” a source told TASS.

The Friendship Cup tournament took place in Minsk from December 6 to 10, 2023.

Recall that Gorobchenko, 17, was disqualified by RUSADA for five years for using meldonium and sibutramine. The sentence begins on May 15, 2023.
