Figure skater Andrei Mozalev told the details of the transition from coach Kirill Davydenko to Eteri Tutberidze .
Mozalev changed coaches in January 2024. He has been training with Kirill Davydenko since he was 8 years old.
“First of all, I discussed the transition with my family and consulted all my relatives. Friends were shocked, as was everyone else. No one dissuaded me, everyone was in favor of the transition and supported this choice. During the period of moving, there was no question of giving everything back. Whether this decision is good or bad, time will tell. It will certainly not be worse in any case.
I remember the first training session with Eteri Georgievna, it was very exciting – I was skating in the fog. For the first two weeks I didn’t even understand that I was in Moscow, that I was skating with Eteri Georgievna, and only then did I realize. Of course, she helped me adapt and felt that I was worried. She told me to be calm and that they would accept me as I am.
“I don’t keep in touch with Kirill Davydenko now. As I said before, we parted without conflicts,” Mozalev said, as quoted by Sport24.
Mozalev is a bronze medalist of the Russian Championship (2022), junior world champion (2020).
