Olmo’s debut goal gives Barcelona comeback win over Rayo Vallecano

Barcelona are the only team in La Liga to win all three games at the start of the 2024/25 season

Barcelona won away from home Rayo Vallecano in the third round match Spanish Championship — 2:1.

The home side took the lead in the 9th minute thanks to a goal from Unai Lopez, assisted by Jorge de Frutos. Hans-Dieter Flick’s men failed to equalise by the break.

In the 60th minute, Barcelona restored parity on the scoreboard – a successful strike by Pedri. In the 71st minute, Robert Lewandowski scored the second goal for the visitors, but the goal was cancelled after reviewing the VAR.

And yet Flick’s men got their way. Barcelona got three points thanks to a goal from summer newcomer Dani Olmo, who made his debut in the main team of the blue-garnets.

It should be noted that Rayo Vallecano’s roster did not include the team’s star newcomer, James Rodriguez.

Barcelona are the only team in La Liga to have won all three of their games at the start of the 2024/25 season, with Rayo Vallecano on four points.

In the next round, on August 31, Barcelona will host Valladolid, while Rayo Vallecano will play away against Espanyol.
