Athletistic/Paralympics. Today, August 28, the Russian Paralympic Committee (RPC) announced that two Russian Paralympic athletes were denied visas to participate in the 2024 Games in Paris. In response, the organization has repeatedly appealed to the French authorities to allow the athletes to compete.

“This is unacceptable for a country that hosts major sporting events such as the Olympic and Paralympic Games. The receiving party is responsible for ensuring that visa issues are resolved. The question arises for the organisers: why hold competitions where they cannot provide equal conditions for all athletes?

“We consider the refusal of visas to Russian Paralympic athletes as another step towards the politicization of sport. It is particularly worrying that this decision affects people with disabilities who aspire to high-level sporting achievements,” the RKR statement said.

The opening ceremony of the 2024 Paralympic Games will take place today, August 28.
