Former Ukrainian national handball player Irina Glebko has passed away

Irina’s life was taken by cancer, which she had been fighting for the last few years.

The famous handball player and ex-captain passed away at the age of 35 Ukrainian national team Irina Glebko.

In recent years, one of the best Ukrainian handball players struggled with cancer, but eventually succumbed to the fatal disease.

Glebko started her career in Galichanka in 2007. Since 2012, she has played in Romania. As part of various clubs, she twice became the champion of Romania, won the Cup and Super Cup, twice became the best sniper of the championship, and in 2019 she was recognized as the best legionnaire of the Romanian championship.

According to the results of 2023, Irina, who represented the Rimnicu Valcea club until her last days, took second place in the voting for the best Ukrainian handball player of the year, losing only to Tamara Smbatyan from the Hungarian Alba Fehervar.
