The Ukrainian flag was carried at the ceremony by fencer Elena Fedota-Isaeva and rower Roman Polyansky. Fedota-Isaeva is the winner of two silver medals at the 2020 Tokyo Games in wheelchair fencing and a four-time medalist at the world championships. Polyansky is a two-time Paralympic champion (Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020) in single sculls in the PR1 class.
Earlier, the Ukrainian Paralympic team officially presented its uniform for the Games in Paris. It is reported that the organizers prohibited having a map of sovereign independent Ukraine on the uniform, but the Ukrainian delegation was able to defend its demands.
The 2024 Paralympics will be held in Paris from August 28 to September 8. The Ukrainian team will be represented at the Games by 140 athletes. Ukrainians will compete in 17 of the 22 Paralympic sports – this is a record in the history of our country.
