Russian runner Fyodor Rudakov explained to why he was unable to complete the 5,000 metres at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris.
Rudakov withdrew from the race three laps before the finish. Brazilian Julio Cesar Agripino dos Santos won gold, Japanese Kenya Karasawa took second place, and another Brazilian representative, Jacques Yeltsin, took bronze.
The 30-year-old Russian runner crossed the mixed zone in tears and limping on one leg, supported by the leading athlete.

— I couldn’t hold the leader. “I fell during the race, stumbling overboard,” Rudakov told .
Rudakov competes in the T11 class (visually impaired athletes).
The Paralympic Games will take place in Paris from August 28 to September 8. A total of 88 Russian athletes will participate in neutral status.
