Svitolina: I had a mini-surgery after the first round of the US Open

Elina has health problems again

Former number one tennis player of Ukraine Elina Svitolina commented on her performance at the 2024 US Open, where she managed to reach the third round.

The tennis player emphasized that she was again bothered by a leg injury, which is why she underwent a mini-operation after the first round match of the competition.

“I injured my leg last year when I was on vacation after the US Open. Now the injury came back a little bit in Monterrey last week. Actually, I suffered with it for how long… About a week.”

“Now every day, that is, I did not train on these days when there were no matches. That is, firstly, it is not normal. Secondly, I had a mini-operation after the first round, so there was a big question whether I would play the second round or not. And somehow a miracle happened that I did not feel my leg in the second round.”

“And now there have already been 3 sets. I have already accumulated micro-injuries, which are also aching. Now it is the end of the season, everyone has some kind of injuries, anything happens. It is a pity that today I could not play the third set normally. I hope that I will be able to recover now and play the end of the year.”

At the tournament, Elina beat Argentine Maria Lourde Carle and her compatriot Angelina Kalinina. In the third round, Svitolina lost in three sets to Coco Gauff from the USA.

Ukraine was left without representation in the women’s singles at the 2024 US Open after the elimination of Svitolina and Marta Kostyuk.
