Anton’s bronze was his sixth Paralympic award in his career and his second in Paris.
Anton Kol brought Ukraine fourth medal of the day and 10th overall in swimming Paralympic Games 2024 in Paris.
In the final of the 50-meter backstroke (class S1), Anton was in second place for a long time, but in the last meters of the distance, he was overtaken by the Italian Francesco Bettella. The champion was the Pole Kamil Otowski.
For Kolya, this award is the second in Paris. Let us recall that on August 29, in the 100-meter backstroke in the S1 class, he won “silver”, losing to the same Otovsky. In general, today’s “bronze” became the sixth medal for the Ukrainian swimmer during his performances at the Paralympic Games.
At the moment, the Ukrainian team has 16 medals (one gold, 8 silver, 7 bronze) at the 2024 Paralympic Games. 10 of them were won in swimming. So far, the only “gold” for our country was won by swimmer Alexander Komarov.
The 2024 Paralympics are taking place in Paris from August 28 to September 8. The Ukrainian team is represented at the Games by 140 athletes. Ukrainians are competing in 17 of the 22 Paralympic sports – a record in the history of our country.
