Russian swimmer Ishiulova on silver at 2024 Paralympics: ‘It’s cool, there are good competitors here’

Russian Victoria Ishiulova said she considered winning silver at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games an exceptional achievement.

On Saturday, Ishiulova (S8 class) finished second in the final heat of the 100-meter backstroke. The victory was taken by Great Britain’s Alice Tay, the leading trio was completed by Germany’s Mira Jeanne Maack.

— Losing to a weak opponent is a story, but here all opponents are strong, when you have someone to compete with, there is room to grow. Silver is cool, and even more, the trend has started: yesterday bronze, today silver, tomorrow … gold? I wanted to fight the British, I tried to fight, but apparently not now. “Everything is ahead, there are still many competitions,” Ishiulova told .

Earlier, Ishiulova won bronze in the 100-meter breaststroke at the 2024 Games in Paris.
