Luis Suarez was the hero of the match, scoring twice
Inter Miami played his next match in the league MLS – team Gerardo Martino defeated on the road Chicago Fire (4:1).
The score was opened in the 25th minute by an own goal from Chicago Fire’s Danish defender Tobias Sahlqvist. The second half was much more interesting in terms of events – already in the 46th minute Luis Suarez doubled the visitors’ advantage, and in the middle of the half the Uruguayan scored a double.
The hosts’ goal of prestige was scored in the 82nd minute by young Georgios Koutsias, but the Chicago Fire were still routed – Robert Taylor scored the fourth goal in the added time of the second half.
Ukrainian defender of Inter Miami Serhiy Krivtsov spent the entire match on the bench. In total, in the last four matches of his team, Krivtsov spent only one minute on the field, although he spent the first half of the season as a main player.
Lionel Messi remains in the infirmary – he continues to recover from the injury he received in the 2024 Copa America final. Because of it, Leo will miss Argentina’s upcoming matches against Chile and Colombia in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Inter Miami continues to confidently lead the Eastern Conference table of the MLS regular season. The gap between Martino’s team and second-placed Cincinnati is eight points. In the next round, Inter Miami will play Philadelphia Union at home on September 15.
