Kyiv club wins over LNZ by minimal margin
Capital midfielder Dynamo Alexander Pikhalenok commented on the minimal victory (1:0) over LNZ in the fifth round of the UPL.
“Despite the minimal victory, we had the initiative, we could have scored more, but only one goal and a slippery advantage by the final whistle. LNZ had shots, set pieces, and somewhere it could have gone in. Therefore, we needed to score a second or third goal and close the match.”
“There were chances, I could have scored in both the first and second halves, but unfortunately it didn’t work out. That’s football, and it’s good that we managed to get three points.”
“It’s a thrill to play with fans. I don’t know how many people there were, probably about two thousand. And it’s a real thrill. When the stands are empty, it’s a completely different atmosphere. We were supported very well, so thank you for the support. This victory is, of course, for them.”
“We have a lot of qualified players in our team, there are two or three players for each position, all of them high-level. So there will be rotation, of course.”
The only goal of the match was scored by Andriy Yarmolenko. The winger converted a penalty in the middle of the first half.
Oleksandr Shovkovskiy’s team won their third victory in three matches of the 2024/25 UPL and is in fifth place in the league table. Dynamo will play their next match on September 14 against Zorya.
