Ivaschenko dismissed as head coach of Obolon – source

Oleksandr Antonenko will become the acting head coach of the Kiev team

Head coach Obolon Valery Ivashchenko dismissed from his position.

It is reported that this decision was made today at a meeting between Ivaschenko and the President of Obolon, Oleksandr Slobodian.

Oleksandr Antonenko, who previously worked as an assistant to Valeriy Ivaschenko, will be appointed as the acting head coach of Obolon.

43-year-old Ivaschenko has spent his entire coaching career in Obolon. From 2014 to 2017, he headed the club’s second team, after which he worked as an assistant and temporary acting head coach of the first team, and became its full-time coach in July 2021.

In the 2024/25 season that has just started, Obolon has taken only one point in five opening matches of the UPL. It lost the previous four matches of the championship with a total score of 0:12. The Kyiv team currently occupies the last place in the UPL standings.
