Ukrainian Fedota-Isaeva wins bronze at 2024 Paralympic Games in wheelchair sabre fencing

Elena won two silver medals at Tokyo 2020 and carried the Ukrainian flag at the opening of the Games in Paris

Ukrainian fencer Elena Fedota-Isaeva won Ukraine’s debut medal Paralympics 2024 in this sport.

In the fight for 3rd place in the individual wheelchair tournament (category B), the Ukrainian won with a crushing score against the Chinese Ao Lanzhu – 15:3.

Fedota-Isaeva is the winner of two silver medals in wheelchair fencing at the 2020 Tokyo Games, as well as a four-time medalist at the World Championships. She, along with rower Roman Polyansky, was entrusted with the honor of carrying the Ukrainian flag at the opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games in Paris.

Now the Ukrainian team has 45 medals in the tournament – nine gold, 15 silver and 21 bronze. In terms of the total number of awards, our country is second only to China, Great Britain, the USA and Brazil.

The 2024 Paralympics are taking place in Paris from August 28 to September 8. The Ukrainian team is represented at the Games by 140 athletes. Ukrainians are competing in 17 of the 22 Paralympic sports – a record in the history of our country.
