Laishev reacted to the desire of the Lithuanian authorities to deprive Drobyazko of citizenship

General Director of the sports center “Sambo-70” Renat Laishev in a conversation with , he spoke about the Lithuanian authorities’ desire to deprive figure skater Margarita Drobyazko of her citizenship.

Earlier, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis said he would support such a decision because of the participation of the figure skater and her partner and husband Povilas Vanagas in Tatyana Navka’s Swan Lake show. Also in Lithuania, they came out in favor of depriving the dancing couple of Lithuanian state awards.

“Well, it’s hysteria, another hysteria, which isn’t surprising. They show their weakness, their anger, and anger is always stupidity. We have many friends in the Baltic countries and many other athletes, and they are well oriented. They make excuses for such situations and say, “Sorry, a bunch of rabid idiots are in power now, and we’re all waiting and hoping for better times.” And it would be more modest to behave. We taught them everything: riding, sports and everything else, and they continue to perform. Poor guys, nobody hears them in principle, basically. So they can either tear down the monument or block the athletes, not let them in because of their helplessness and weakness,” Laishev told .

Drobyazko, who dances on ice with her husband Povilas Vanagas, was born in Moscow, but after the collapse of the USSR, she represented Lithuania on the international stage. The skaters are bronze medalists at the 2000 World Championships, participants in five Olympic Games. In 2000, Drobyazko and Vanagas were awarded Knight’s Crosses of the Order of Gediminas.
