This is the second gold of the Ukrainian women’s team at the Chess Olympiad in history
President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky commented victory of the Ukrainian women’s team on the Chess Olympiad 2022 in Indian Chennai.
“For the second time in history, the women’s team of Ukraine won gold at the Chess Olympiad. Maria and Anna Muzychuk, Anna Ushenina, Yulia Osmak and Natalia Buksa – the whole country is proud of your result. Thank you for such an important victory and the Ukrainian flag on the highest step of the podium.”
“Blue and yellow will be in every corner of our country. Without any gambits – without sacrificing anything in exchange for something – we will return every cell of our land. Because, despite any openings, blockades and pathos threats to destroy us in two moves, all the enemies of Ukraine sooner or later fall into zugzwang – a helpless position when any of their moves leads to the loss of the game. The pawns are over. The officers will be beaten. There will be no heavy figures left. And the naked king will hear: Checkmate, Glory to Ukraine!”
The women’s team of Ukraine became the winner of the Chess Olympiad-2022, having beaten the team of Poland in the final 11th round – 3:1. In the overall standings, Ukraine scored 18 points and outstripped Georgia in additional indicators.
