President Ingulets is ready to stick to his principles, even to the point of removing the team from the UPL
President Ingulets Alexander Povoroznyuk commented on the information that he may remove the team from UPL if she is not allowed to play the sixth round match against Chernomorets at the club’s new stadium Ingulets Arena.
“It’s very simple. We have everything we need for football ready: super changing rooms, a heated pitch, two spare pitches, a press box, press conference rooms, TV spots, Wi-Fi. Absolutely everything. The only thing is that out of all the points of the requirements of the UAF Stadium and Competition Safety Committee, we have the first point – it (the stadium) has not been put into operation. But it doesn’t depend on me. It has been put into operation for three years now through bureaucracy, and they are constantly reworking something. After all, when the Ingulets Arena stadium was just starting to be built, there were no requirements for bomb shelters, because it was before the full-scale war. So, since then we have been constantly reworking something, reworking – and now we are reworking it again.”
“We have documents for the stadium, and we will put it into operation anyway. I repeat: we are absolutely ready for football now. But now Andrey Taran, who is responsible for stadiums in the aforementioned Committee, tells me: “We will not give you permission because you do not have an act of commissioning. If you want to play, go to the office up there and negotiate.” But I will not go anywhere and will not bribe anyone. If Ingulets is not allowed to play with Chornomorets at our stadium, then I will remove the team from the championship. This is a fundamental decision, and I will not back down from it. When I follow my principles, I do not take anyone or anything into account.”
“Does Ingulets have an additional stadium, Gornyak, in Krivoy Rog? Yes, we have an additional one. But why should we play at an additional one if Ingulets has its own? Why should I beg when 4 million euros are wasted during the war? In order to build a stadium for people, for leisure. And now I have to play at a reserve stadium? And to hell with them all. I repeat: I won’t. And this is a matter of principle.”
“Who should stop these bureaucratic red tapes? There is a whole list of such organizations – in particular, the State Emergency Service, the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, the UAF and others.”
“When will the “X-time” come and I can make a radical decision? We have provided an official letter in which we said that we are ready to host Chornomorets in a home match on September 14. If the Odessa team does not come because the UAF or UPL decide something differently, then… Although the UPL has already sent us a letter that does not give permission to use our stadium. Therefore, I am now calling the TV crews who will film everything that will testify: Ingulets really fulfilled all the conditions necessary for football. After which I will go to a press conference and say that they are not letting me play.”
“Although during the war they allowed to play even at the old stadium of Ingulets, and at Minai too.” It seems that for officials the war is already over. But for me personally it is not over. I have helped and will help everyone I can to defeat the enemy. And if someone decides to interfere, then I will remove the team from the championship and take up children’s football – I will open a school, a boarding school. I will not give up football at all, because I am a big fan of it. So, as for the issue of using the neighbors’ stadium when I have my own, I will repeat: I will not beg. It seems that everyone wants Ingulets to withdraw from the competition. Well, I will withdraw.”
In each of the five opening matches of the 2024/25 UPL (as well as in the Ukrainian Cup), the team from Petrovo played away. The debut at home was supposed to take place on September 14 in the match of the 6th round against Chornomorets.
Let us recall that the First League recently lost one of its participants – Khust officially announced its withdrawal from the competition.
Ingulets is one of three teams that have not yet won in the UPL. Vasyl Kobin’s team has earned three points in five rounds and is in 14th place. In the last round, Ingulets was routed by Rukh with a score of 0:5.
