Ukrainian Trusov Wins 50m Butterfly Gold at 2024 Paralympics with European Record

Andrey’s fifth medal at the Paris Games

Ukrainian Andrey Trusov won gold in swimming 50 meters butterfly in class S7 on Paralympic Games 2024 in Paris.

Andrey swam the distance in 28.75 seconds, setting a new European record. Trusov was 0.33 seconds ahead of Carlos Serrano from Colombia, who took second place. It should be noted that another Ukrainian took part in the swim — Evgeniy Bogodaykowho took sixth place.

Trusov won his fifth medal at the 2024 Paralympics, including his second gold. Recall that Andrey became the champion in 50-meter freestyle swimming, setting a new world record. He also has three silver medals.

Trusov’s gold was already the 21st for Ukraine at the Paris Games. The blue-yellows won a total of 75 awards of varying denominations.

The 2024 Paralympics are taking place in Paris from August 28 to September 8. The Ukrainian team is represented at the Games by 140 athletes. Ukrainians are competing in 17 of the 22 Paralympic sports – a record in the history of our country.
