Athletistic / Olympic Games. Olympic modern pentathlon champion Ahmed El-Gendy of Egypt said he would like to see Russian athletes at the next Olympic Games. On September 7, Elgendi took part in the Union State Cup in Moscow.
“I don’t like to talk about politics, but I want Russian athletes to participate in international competitions, including the Olympic Games. We haven’t had enough of that in the last three years, so I hope that Russians will participate in the next Olympic Games.
“This is my fourth time in Russia. I really like your country and the way competitions are held there. I immediately accepted the organizers’ offer to come to Moscow for the Union State Cup,” El-Gendy was quoted as saying by TASS.
Ahmed El-Gendy has won the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris (France). The 24-year-old Egyptian is a silver medalist at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo (Japan), as well as the winner of the 2023 World Championships in Bath (United Kingdom).
Russian pentathletes have been deprived of the opportunity to participate in international competitions since February 2022 due to the events in Ukraine.
