Blue-yellows lost to Albania in the first match of the League of Nations
Defender Ukrainian national team Vitaliy Mykolenko commented on the defeat from Albania (1:2) in the first round Nations League 2024/25.
“We missed two goals because of our mistakes, we couldn’t score at the end of the match. I think we started the second half well, we could have scored after the first goal. That’s football. We missed two goals, the opposing team closed in defense, we couldn’t open it up.”
“I don’t have any opinions about the game with the Czech Republic right now, it’s only been 30 minutes since the end of the match. I’m thinking about recovery after the game now. Tomorrow we’ll watch the Czech Republic and analyze them,” the footballer said.
Ukraine managed to open the scoring after the break, with Yefim Konoplya scoring. However, the Albanians quickly equalized and then scored a second goal after a counterattack.
With three points, Albania leads Group B1 with Georgia, while the Ukrainian team is third thanks to a better goal difference than the Czech Republic.
In the next round, Rebrov’s team will play the Czech Republic on September 10. The match, like the match with Albania, will take place in Prague.
