Athletistic / Rowing slalom. Russian slalom team head coach Maxim Obraztsov said that Russian athletes will not take part in the September World Cup stages in Italy and Spain.
“The Russian team has decided not to participate in these tournaments. We would have to solve serious logistical problems, and we may have problems obtaining entry visas. In addition, we already have a bad experience with an application for the July World Championship in Slovakia,” TASS quotes Obraztsov as saying.
Russian athletes were deprived of the opportunity to participate in the World Junior and Junior Rowing Slalom Championships in Liptovsky Mikulas (Slovakia) due to the reluctance of the authorities to allow Russians to participate in these competitions. At that time, the International Canoe Federation (ICF) managed to include Russian athletes in the list of participants in the World Cup, but the Liptovsky Mikulas city hall opposed this.
The first stage of the Rowing Slalom World Cup after the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will take place in Ivrea (Italy) from September 12 to 15. The athletes will then perform in La Seu (Spain) from September 19 to 22.
